Sandy Lyne

Adolescence

A rope bridge
across
a hormonal gorge,

handstands
practiced
on ponies of desire,

the funeral
of
innocence,
the rip tide
of peers,

costumes,
music,
the mimed dance
of hope,

the Carnival of
sadness
where childhood
says good-bye.
